The whole Xiao Huaisu being married thing obviously hit me quite hard. But since I'm a single father who has a child to take care of, I couldn't just break down. The most I could afford to do was be depressed only for a short while as that's exactly the type of a strong man I am.

I'm talking about Xiao Huaisu! That beast parading as a man! That hypocrite! He's definitely married yet he still dares seduce our most popular and beautiful professor! This sort of thing is simply abominable!

Thinking it over some more, I figured that since Xiao Huaisu was married now, there shouldn't be any mingling between us in the future. Which was why I decided to transfer the money for the shoes he had bought me to him and was prepared to let the matter regarding the returning of his clothes drag on. If he didn't press me for them, I would keep them in the meantime. Me doing so could have come off to be a bit of perverted, couldn't it? But, thankfully, he was very busy and didn't seem to have any time for a little pervert like me, which also made me a bit sad.

After all that, while we ate some Liangpi and following my listening to Qiao Damai's recount of his second stint in love, I suddenly came to the realisation that when compared to his tumultuous love tragedy, my own doesn't seem so bad, doesn't it? I felt bad for the guy, but at the same time I also thought he was stupid beyond all reason. It was even possible that his future stupidity would be beyond compare to its present form.

After the rains fell for more than half of the month, November came knocking before I knew it. The weather slowly grew colder, seeming to also drag everyone's mood to follow in step to the gloomier end of the spectrum. As I walked across the campus, looking at the ground filled with fallen leaves, I couldn't stop myself from letting a sigh slip out on account of my jilted love affair. All because of the taste of my loneliness, all because of the taste of my dog-like singledom; you might as well just abbreviate it all to a dog-like stench.

I further advised Qiao Damai to explain everything to the other person clearly. If things remain unclear between them, it could lead the other to think he played around with someone else's feelings on purpose and they could become enemies in the end, which is not good at all. After all, that person was aware Qiao Damai was a guy the entire time and they still accepted his confession. So if that person isn't playing with him and was truly serious, I felt as if that entire situation could turn out to be a tragedy.

Much to my own disappointment, I was down in the dumps over this jilted love of mine for more than half a month, yet that best pal of mine, known as Qiao Damai, hasn't caught on one bit to my grieving state; and more than that, was unable to comfort me by making me some of his spicy Sichuan fish stew. That hurt me very much, you know.

But just at that exact moment, Qiao Damai suddenly seemed to have recalled something, then said with surprise: "Oh no, I have a class with Professor Yan in a little while, so Li Tian... there's—no—way—I—can—take—you—there!" After he was done, he pried my legs off him and handed me over to Xiao Huaisu, adding: "So just let Professor Xiao take you, alright. I don't think you'll get in trouble for calling him a beast just now. I'll be on my way then, it's almost time!"

That hurt me very much, you know.

"I didn't know for sure if he was just messing with me on purpose..." Qiao Damai looked as if he wanted to cry, even he himself was unsure.

But just as I was ready to erupt in despair and attempt to emotionally blackmail that friend of mine by saying how he had neglected me all this time and unless he made me some of his spicy fish stew my pain couldn't be negated, the guy actually called and invited me out to an Old Xi'an noodle place off-campus for lunch.

I stared at him in silence, then sighed: "Jeez..." the continued by asking: "Wait, did you actually meet him then?"

"Pfft—"

I took my hands from my eyes, waving my fists as I complained angrily: "How can he do this?!"

I'm talking about Xiao Huaisu! That beast parading as a man! That hypocrite! He's definitely married yet he still dares seduce our most popular and beautiful professor! This sort of thing is simply abominable!

"I'm—a—beast?" His tone sounded unbothered, but it still made me quake in my boots. Oh, and just let it be clear, my mental strength was much worse than that of my imagination."

Closing my phone, I began pinching my fingers. The sinking feeling of something not being right lingered, and perhaps that feeling was coming from Qiao Damai.

I couldn't help but notice the liangpi noodles and Chinese burgers the other people around us were buying seeming rather delicious, you know, because the two together are a perfect pair. All while trying my very best to comfort and console Qiao Damai's broken heart, unable to stop myself from feeling that Qiao Damai's pretty darn lucky to have a friend like me.

After we arrived at the place, the minute we sat down, he told me he was heart-broken.

I had drank a mouthful of water, and upon hearing what he said, I was so gobsmacked my eyes spread wide as I confirmed: "So you've been chatting with each other for about a month, and after meeting in person, you realised they were a man? And, on top of all that, that guy even told you he was a man, but you thought he was just messing with you?"

Qiao Damai threw me a curious eye, then ignored me and continued to speak, his tone filled with envy: "I heard that Professor Song and Professor Xiao are dating. They look like a good match, don't they?"

What?! That beast!

Keeping a calm face, I therefore asked: "Weren't you already heartbroken a while ago?"

"You confessed a second time and got turned down just like before?"

All because of the taste of my loneliness, all because of the taste of my dog-like singledom; you might as well just abbreviate it all to a dog-like stench.

As we happily made our way back to the campus, Qiao Damai suddenly patted me on the back and said: "Hey, look over there, it's Professor Xiao and Professor Song!"

This made him stare at me with a blank expression, before asking in return: "Are you talking about Xiao Huaisoo? Hey, that was a long time ago. I'm talking about a heartbreak I got after that—I got jilted again!"

Hearing that it was Xiao Huaisu, I covered my eyes and refused sternly: "I don't want to look." I was afraid I wouldn't be able to to restrain the chaos surging within me any longer, and make the terrible decision to rush over and ask: Why are treating me like this, you bastard? Why are you so freaking handsome too? Do you think that just because you're gorgeous I would have a crush on you! So in order to keep our little boat of friendship from turning over, I had to exercise restraint.

"After I confessed I made a date with her and for us to meet at the bubble tea place in the central district the next day,"

My eyes were still shut, and my upper half was in Xiao Huaisu's grasp, while that lower half of mine was tightly clamped to Qiao Damai's legs, in a desperate attempt to convey my reluctance along with my dependence on him.

"You confessed a second time and got turned down just like before?"

It pained me that Qiao Damai was this naïve, so I complained: "No, you don't understand the situation."

Qiao Damai was a tall, sturdy looking dude, but after he heard me say this, as he looked at me enraged, and I—much to my surprise—apparently found him to be sort of cute. Like, what the heck was going on here?

"Yeah..." Qiao Damai donned a long face.

"Hey, don't tempt me now. I'm a person with standards, and you're already way below my lowest ones."

Hearing the quick retreating footsteps, I felt as if my heart had fallen into an abyss. Making me decide in that moment, that regardless of whether I died or lived, I would continue to feign death till the end.

Thinking it over some more, I figured that since Xiao Huaisu was married now, there shouldn't be any mingling between us in the future. Which was why I decided to transfer the money for the shoes he had bought me to him and was prepared to let the matter regarding the returning of his clothes drag on. "Pfft—"

I didn't need to turn around, I already knew who it was. So I immediately grabbed hold of Qiao Damai's arms, doing my best to signal him with my eyes to help me before I then cleverly pretended to faint.

"Hey, don't tempt me now. I'm a person with standards, and you're already way below my lowest ones."

Thus to his response, I meaningfully added: "And the day before yesterday was rainy..."

Even though I could understand his shocked reaction, I also sympathized with the other guy for having crossed paths with this idiot.

Qiao Damai was a tall, sturdy looking dude, but after he heard me say this, as he looked at me enraged, and I—much to my surprise—apparently found him to be sort of cute. Like, what the heck was going on here?

"Hey, just let me finish, alright..." Qiao Damai didn't show his face, only weakly holding his head in his hands. The sadness etched on his face seemed irreversible.

My eyes were still shut, and my upper half was in Xiao Huaisu's grasp, while that lower half of mine was tightly clamped to Qiao Damai's legs, in a desperate attempt to convey my reluctance along with my dependence on him.

Qiao Damai threw me a curious eye, then ignored me and continued to speak, his tone filled with envy: "I heard that Professor Song and Professor Xiao are dating. They look like a good match, don't they?"

Here's what was going on. A while ago, Qiao Damai was dragged to a comic convention by a friend of his, and while he was there he had met a girl. That person was cosplaying as a male anime character, but his intuition told him that beneath their costume, was a very pretty girl. This inkling of his was mainly caused by that friend of his telling him beforehand a group of girls were the ones playing those male characters, thus leading to him thinking that other person was in fact a girl. So after using every which way he could, he finally got ahold of that person's WeChat ID, and although the other person's WeChat account info listed them as male, and despite their profile picture as well as their timeline being inundated with a cold and hardened style; he, to the contrary, simply believed there was a soft, sweet girl lurking inside that other person regardless of the personality they displayed on the surface—and all of the outer stuff was solely a misunderstanding. So after much pestering from Qiao Damai, the two gradually began growing closer. The relationship between them had steadily grew better each day... until the day before yesterday that is, when Qiao Damai thought it was the perfect opportunity to declare his confession, and just as he had hoped, that person had accepted.

"Yeah..." QAQ.

When I heard that last bit, I snapped the disposable chopsticks in my hand and slammed them onto the table in anger. "Your confession was successful, so why the frick are you acting like this in front of me!" Did you want to bully a poor single guy like me?! Is that it!

This made him stare at me with a blank expression, before asking in return: "Are you talking about Xiao Huaisoo? Hey, that was a long time ago. I'm talking about a heartbreak I got after that—I got jilted again!"

"It rained quite heavily in fact..."

Keeping a calm face, I therefore asked: "Weren't you already heartbroken a while ago?"

"Could it be possible he had gotten sick?"

It pained me that Qiao Damai was this naïve, so I complained: "No, you don't understand the situation."

"Hey, just let me finish, alright..." Qiao Damai didn't show his face, only weakly holding his head in his hands. The sadness etched on his face seemed irreversible.

"And after I got there, I realised they weren't a 'she' but was actually a 'he'. He wasn't lying to me."

It pained me that Qiao Damai was this naïve, so I complained: "No, you don't understand the situation."

It turned out things made a hard turn south when he decided to strike while the iron was still hot right on the heals of his confession by suggesting they have a date on the following day. Naturally, that other person did not refuse and of course agreed to the invitation of a straight guy like Qiao Damai.

Qiao Damai gave me an understanding look, then asked: "Ah, so you're a fan of Professor Song too, huh? I myself joined the Professor Song fan club as well. Whether it be in regard to ethics, education, or looks; our fan club believes that Professor Xiao is very much suited to be with her. In this entire school, we couldn't find any other professor's as suitable as him, not even in our sister-schools."

"Pfft—"

"Okay. Go on."

"Could it be possible he had gotten sick?"

Qiao Damai took the hint and supported me in his arms, then told Xiao Huaisu nervously: "Professor Xiao, I think Li Tian is anemic because he didn't eat anything today, so... I'm just going to take him to the hospital, okay!" On the inside I gave that friend of mine two solid thumbs up. What an excellent lie Mr. Qiao Damai!

What?! That beast!

"So... the lady you've been chatting with for more than half a month, was in actuality, a fella?"

The more I questioned, the weaker his voice became. So with a hesitant nod of his head, he replied: "Yes..."

I took my hands from my eyes, waving my fists as I complained angrily: "How can he do this?!"

Just as I was done speaking, Qiao Damai had a complicated expression as he stared... behind me? Not waiting for me to turn around, I heard a familiar voice spoke up from behind me.

Keeping a calm face, I therefore asked: "Weren't you already heartbroken a while ago?"

"No..."

"Yeah..." QAQ.

Qiao Damai put down his hands then looked at me, his face covered in dejection: "I... I had a bit of a mental break, and couldn't walk forward to him at all, so I just ran away secretly."

Putting my cup down, I then said to him seriously: "You really are stupid. You're stupid to a whole new extent of the word..."

"I'm talking about Xiao Huaisu. That guy, he's not a good match for Professor Song at all!"

"So what you're saying is, you're a straight guy who went and bent another straight guy?"

But Xiao Huaisu, leaving no room for refusal, then said: "I'll take him there." Before plucking me from Qiao Damai's arms.

"After I confessed I made a date with her and for us to meet at the bubble tea place in the central district the next day,"

Qiao Damai was a tall, sturdy looking dude, but after he heard me say this, as he looked at me enraged, and I—much to my surprise—apparently found him to be sort of cute. Like, what the heck was going on here?

"He... didn't seem to look that well..." Qiao Damai whipped up his head, "It couldn't be because of the wind, right? Is that why he never asked me why I didn't show up? Because he's sick?"

After the rains fell for more than half of the month, November came knocking before I knew it. The weather slowly grew colder, seeming to also drag everyone's mood to follow in step to the gloomier end of the spectrum. Right as Qiao Damai was losing his mind, I clapped to snap him out of it then said: "Even if that guy isn't a girl, the two of you have still known each other for a good while. So if that guy is really sick, and more than that, has gotten sick because of you, shouldn't you be the one to take the initiative to ask them if there's something wrong? And as for whether or not you two can be friends, I'll just say this, you were the one who made the first move to begin with, and after you made your move, you were the one to run away first after finding out the truth. In all honesty, that's not something a real man would do, nor is it something a respectable man would do."

"What situation?"

Qiao Damai was a tall, sturdy looking dude, but after he heard me say this, as he looked at me enraged, and I—much to my surprise—apparently found him to be sort of cute. Like, what the heck was going on here?

"Could it be possible he had gotten sick?"

It turned out things made a hard turn south when he decided to strike while the iron was still hot right on the heals of his confession by suggesting they have a date on the following day. Naturally, that other person did not refuse and of course agreed to the invitation of a straight guy like Qiao Damai.

He's worse than a beast!

N/A

Qiao Damai gave me an understanding look, then asked: "Ah, so you're a fan of Professor Song too, huh? I myself joined the Professor Song fan club as well. Whether it be in regard to ethics, education, or looks; our fan club believes that Professor Xiao is very much suited to be with her. In this entire school, we couldn't find any other professor's as suitable as him, not even in our sister-schools."

Qiao Damai!

But Xiao Huaisu, leaving no room for refusal, then said: "I'll take him there." Before plucking me from Qiao Damai's arms.

"Hey, don't tempt me now. I'm a person with standards, and you're already way below my lowest ones."

"That he's a beast!"

"Pfft—"

As we happily made our way back to the campus, Qiao Damai suddenly patted me on the back and said: "Hey, look over there, it's Professor Xiao and Professor Song!"

Just as I was done speaking, Qiao Damai had a complicated expression as he stared... behind me? Not waiting for me to turn around, I heard a familiar voice spoke up from behind me.

"Pfft—"

After we arrived at the place, the minute we sat down, he told me he was heart-broken.

Even though I could understand his shocked reaction, I also sympathized with the other guy for having crossed paths with this idiot.

Qiao Damai threw me a curious eye, then ignored me and continued to speak, his tone filled with envy: "I heard that Professor Song and Professor Xiao are dating. They look like a good match, don't they?"

"That he's a beast!"

"And after I got there, I realised they weren't a 'she' but was actually a 'he'. He wasn't lying to me."

It turned out things made a hard turn south when he decided to strike while the iron was still hot right on the heals of his confession by suggesting they have a date on the following day. Naturally, that other person did not refuse and of course agreed to the invitation of a straight guy like Qiao Damai.

What?! That beast!

"I was in the middle of a breakdown at that time so I... I forgot..." Qiao Damai hung his head in shame.

"Pfft—"

Qiao Damai took the hint and supported me in his arms, then told Xiao Huaisu nervously: "Professor Xiao, I think Li Tian is anemic because he didn't eat anything today, so... I'm just going to take him to the hospital, okay!" On the inside I gave that friend of mine two solid thumbs up. What an excellent lie Mr. Qiao Damai!

I took my hands from my eyes, waving my fists as I complained angrily: "How can he do this?!"

"So... the lady you've been chatting with for more than half a month, was in actuality, a fella?"

This made Qiao Damai ask confusedly: "What are talking about?"

Qiao Damai was a tall, sturdy looking dude, but after he heard me say this, as he looked at me enraged, and I—much to my surprise—apparently found him to be sort of cute. Like, what the heck was going on here?

I'm talking about Xiao Huaisu! That beast parading as a man! That hypocrite! He's definitely married yet he still dares seduce our most popular and beautiful professor! This sort of thing is simply abominable!

"Okay. Go on."

"I'm talking about Xiao Huaisu. That guy, he's not a good match for Professor Song at all!"

My eyes were still shut, and my upper half was in Xiao Huaisu's grasp, while that lower half of mine was tightly clamped to Qiao Damai's legs, in a desperate attempt to convey my reluctance along with my dependence on him.

I took my hands from my eyes, waving my fists as I complained angrily: "How can he do this?!"

In this entire school, we couldn't find any other professor's as suitable as him, not even in our sister-schools."

"Yeah..." Qiao Damai donned a long face.

Whether it be in regard to ethics, education, or looks; our fan club believes that Professor Xiao is very much suited to be with her. In this entire school, we couldn't find any other professor's as suitable as him, not even in our sister-schools."

"He... didn't seem to look that well..." Qiao Damai whipped up his head, "It couldn't be because of the wind, right? Is that why he never asked me why I didn't show up? Because he's sick?"

When I heard that last bit, I snapped the disposable chopsticks in my hand and slammed them onto the table in anger. "Your confession was successful, so why the frick are you acting like this in front of me!" Did you want to bully a poor single guy like me?! Is that it!

In all honesty, that's not something a real man would do, nor is it something a respectable man would do."

It pained me that Qiao Damai was this naïve, so I complained: "No, you don't understand the situation."

Qiao Damai threw me a curious eye, then ignored me and continued to speak, his tone filled with envy: "I heard that Professor Song and Professor Xiao are dating. They look like a good match, don't they?"

"Pfft—"

"What situation?"

I took my hands from my eyes, waving my fists as I complained angrily: "How can he do this?!"

"That he's a beast!"

The whole Xiao Huaisu being married thing obviously hit me quite hard. But since I'm a single father who has a child to take care of, I couldn't just break down. The most I could afford to do was be depressed only for a short while as that's exactly the type of a strong man I am.

Qiao Damai was a tall, sturdy looking dude, but after he heard me say this, as he looked at me enraged, and I—much to my surprise—apparently found him to be sort of cute. Like, what the heck was going on here?

"That he's a beast!"

"What situation?"

Just as I was done speaking, Qiao Damai had a complicated expression as he stared... behind me? Not waiting for me to turn around, I heard a familiar voice spoke up from behind me.

Closing my phone, I began pinching my fingers. The sinking feeling of something not being right lingered, and perhaps that feeling was coming from Qiao Damai.

I'm talking about Xiao Huaisu! That beast parading as a man! That hypocrite! He's definitely married yet he still dares seduce our most popular and beautiful professor! This sort of thing is simply abominable!

"After I confessed I made a date with her and for us to meet at the bubble tea place in the central district the next day,"

After we arrived at the place, the minute we sat down, he told me he was heart-broken.

"I'm—a—beast?" His tone sounded unbothered, but it still made me quake in my boots. Oh, and just let it be clear, my mental strength was much worse than that of my imagination."

"So what you're saying is, you're a straight guy who went and bent another straight guy?"

Hearing the quick retreating footsteps, I felt as if my heart had fallen into an abyss. Making me decide in that moment, that regardless of whether I died or lived, I would continue to feign death till the end.

Closing my phone, I began pinching my fingers. The sinking feeling of something not being right lingered, and perhaps that feeling was coming from Qiao Damai.

Here's what was going on. A while ago, Qiao Damai was dragged to a comic convention by a friend of his, and while he was there he had met a girl. I took my hands from my eyes, waving my fists as I complained angrily: "How can he do this?!"

I didn't need to turn around, I already knew who it was. So I immediately grabbed hold of Qiao Damai's arms, doing my best to signal him with my eyes to help me before I then cleverly pretended to faint.

"Has that guy contacted you recently?"

Even though I could understand his shocked reaction, I also sympathized with the other guy for having crossed paths with this idiot.

"He... didn't seem to look that well..." Qiao Damai whipped up his head, "It couldn't be because of the wind, right? Is that why he never asked me why I didn't show up? Because he's sick?"

"Um, yeah..."

Qiao Damai put down his hands then looked at me, his face covered in dejection: "I... I had a bit of a mental break, and couldn't walk forward to him at all, so I just ran away secretly."

I stared at him in silence, then sighed: "Jeez..." the continued by asking: "Wait, did you actually meet him then?"

My eyes were still shut, and my upper half was in Xiao Huaisu's grasp, while that lower half of mine was tightly clamped to Qiao Damai's legs, in a desperate attempt to convey my reluctance along with my dependence on him.

Thus to his response, I meaningfully added: "And the day before yesterday was rainy..."

He's worse than a beast!

"So, after you left, did you tell him to go back home?"

"It rained quite heavily in fact..."

Qiao Damai took the hint and supported me in his arms, then told Xiao Huaisu nervously: "Professor Xiao, I think Li Tian is anemic because he didn't eat anything today, so... This made him stare at me with a blank expression, before asking in return: "Are you talking about Xiao Huaisoo? Hey, that was a long time ago. I'm talking about a heartbreak I got after that—I got jilted again!"
